Allocating RAM to Internet Explorer:
Macintosh allows users to specify the amount of RAM used by an application. The Mac does not work well or efficiently using disk cache for handling images. The higher you can set Internet Explorers RAM the better image use you will get.
Adjusting the RAM (Random Access Memory) settings for Internet Explorer:
Step 1: Exit Internet Explorer. Before you exit the application you may wish to print out these instructions.
Step 2: Locate the Internet Explorer Folder located in the Microsoft Internet Applications folder on your hard drive.
Step 3: Within the Internet Explorer Folder click once on the Internet Explorer application icon to highlight it.
Step 4: Once the Internet Explorer icon is highlighted, select the "Get Info" function on the File Menu in the top left corner of the desktop.
Step 5: In the "Get Info" window there are three boxes in the lower right hand corner. From top to bottom, the boxes are Suggested Size, Minimum Size, and Preferred Size. For best performance increase the minimum size to 10 MB and the Preferred Size to 40 MB or more.
